Hog’s Breath Racing Skyvia Ute

About

Prior to Dan becoming a pro in 2009, Dan owned and operated his own Motorsport workshop- ADD Racing based in North Brisbane. He specialized in building, modifying and servicing Japanese imports.  He began drifting in 2005 competing in the Driftzone State series run at Queensland raceway. In his very first year of competition, Dan finished third overall in the State series even missing the final round due to an interstate event being on the same weekend. The Series was won by Jerome Kennedy, whom also finished second in the Fullock Drift Nationals series which was the premier Australian series at the time. Happy with his performance and consistent driving throughout that year, Dan was hooked on the sport of Drifting. Competing in a basic set up Cefiro powered by an RB25DET making around 200kw, Dan decided he would set himself a goal of winning the next state championship. Dan is regarded as a very devoted, flamboyant and hard charging driver. Very much a crowd pleaser Dan always is out to entertain the crowd. In 2006 Dan achieved his goal of winning the Qld championship, proving he was the state’s most consistent driver. As the competition stepped up, so did the machinery and so did the expense. Dan managed to grab the attention of Motul oils and Falken Tyres. These were the very first companies to invest in Dan as a driver.

At the Fullock Drift Nationals event in Qld that year, Dan entered the Pro class and finished a very credible third place at his very first National event. In the heats Dan knocked out Robbie Boldger in the Capa 1000 HP commodore ute and was given the nicknamed the “Giant Killer”. Dan unfortunately suffered fuel surge in his Top 4 run against Tony Harrison ’50MAN”. He dominated his run off for third place convincingly and this opened the eyes of the major sponsor of the event at the time Toyo Tires representative Clinton Joyce. Clinton was so impressed with Dan’s massive high speed entries and cars presentation, that he offered him a contract with the company at the event. This was the start of Dan forming a partnership with Toyo Tires and has now been with the company for a very strong 6 years. Toyo has been an instrumental part of Dan’s massive list of achievements and success over the years. Dan to date has won, and finished on the podium at over 135 events making him the most successful driver in Queensland.
